The new Longines Collection dedicated to pioneers

The watch played a fundamental role in the development of explorations, when modern navigation technologies were not available, and the only tools were compass, maps and, precisely, the watch. A tool that had to be precise and reliable to ensure that the wearer could accurately perform all the calculations necessary to measure geographical distances and coordinates.

Longines boasts a very long history in the field of exploration and, thanks to the reliability of its watches, many illustrious names of exploration had on their wrists a watch with the winged hourglass to accompany them on their expeditions. With the new Spirit collection, the maison of Saint Imier wants to extend the tribute to all the great pioneers of flight and exploration who have made historic achievements with a Longines on their wrist.

The new collection, which is part of the Sport line, perfectly blends the classic lines of aviator watches with modern technology to create high-precision instruments that can ideally accompany the modern explorers of the 21st century in carrying out their great undertakings.

The new Longines Spirit are offered in two models, one time with a date and a chronograph with 3 counters, available in different variations of the dial (blue, black, silver), both with a steel bracelet and a leather strap.

The top of the range model in the blue version has the distinctive features of a classic aviator watch reinterpreted in a modern key: large crown (without protection shoulders), smooth bezel set back to frame the domed sapphire crystal, pump stopwatch buttons. The date adjustment, on the other hand, is entrusted to a screw button located at 10 o'clock which to a distracted glance can make one think that he has a double chronograph in his hands.

The dial has a beautiful deep blue color, with a soleil finish, on which the applied Arabic numerals and the stick hands stand out, all coated with Super-LumiNova® to ensure maximum readability in the dark. Five applied stars stand under the logo of the winged hourglass indicating the presence of the Chronometer certificate. The steel case back is engraved with the logo and is screwed, like the crown, to ensure a water resistance of 10 bar (100m).

The mechanism that operates the watch is the L688.4 caliber on the ETA (AO8.LOI) base, an automatic movement exclusive for this model, with a column wheel for chronograph functions, a silicon spiral and COSC certification.
