For Watches and Wonders 2021, Baume & Mercier relaunches one of its most iconic collections:

The Riviera watch, a legacy of Baume & Mercier design

Created in 1973, the Riviera watch returns this year to revive the spirit of an illustrious era of watchmaking. One of the icons of the brand, it still features the distinctive bezel and streamlined steel case that gave it its fame. Rather than a revival, the fifth generation of this legendary timepiece hits the strings of a genuine renewal.

Some watches stand the test of time - the Riviera is one of them. When launched in 1973, Baume & Mercier chose to present a powerful, unique, different and distinctive watch. At a time when the watch industry could afford to do almost anything, the Riviera broke traditional codes. At the time, small gold watches were considered the pinnacle of luxury. But as is often the case, Baume & Mercier was the first brand to sense that the wind was turning, that consumer behaviors were changing and that fashion was moving forward. The culture of leisure, the spirit of independence and the desire for modernity were becoming the determining forces of the time. From the moment it was launched, the Riviera has represented a form of freedom and renewal. A steel armor, a strong silhouette and an unusual elegance. He was ahead of his time. Known for its twelve-sided bezel that reflects the twelve hours displayed on the dial, this unique timepiece has become the icon of a casual generation.

Inspired by the carefree lifestyle of the French Riviera, this is a watch of casual elegance: a symbol of freedom and fun, with a modern take on refined watchmaking. In 2021, the Riviera unveils a new generation. Capture the spirit of our times to better reinterpret it.

Here it is in 2021, still authentic: a generously sized steel case, a twelve-sided bezel with four screws, automatic and “Swiss Made” quartz movements and interchangeable straps incorporated in steel or flexible materials. The original design is still there, but so is the desire to adapt to our times.

Available in three sizes, each in steel: 36mm, 42mm and 43mm diameter.

Worthy of mention is the Riviera equipped with the Baumatic internal caliber, known and acclaimed for several years, in particular for its success with the Clifton collection. It offers, among other features, a power reserve of five days, a daily accuracy of -4 s / +6 s and a magnetic resistance of 1500 Gauss, which provides solid protection against magnetic fields on a daily basis. A technical jewel, the BAUMATIC Riviera clearly intends to meet the expectations of future watch owners who seek excellence and irreproachable quality.

The BAUMATIC Riviera is available with a smoky blue decorated sapphire dial on a built-in steel strap or with a smoky gray decorated sapphire dial on a flexible black strap. The transparency of its opaque dials offers the opportunity to admire the moving gear trains of the BAUMATIC, as if time did not get the better of this watch. In fact, it has stood the test of time without batting an eye.

It's unique. It is reliable. He is athletic. It is authentic. It is "Swiss Made". It is a Baume & Mercier. Its name is Riviera.
