For more than 50 years, Seiko 5 Sports has guaranteed the highest levels of reliability, resistance and performance, values that mechanical watch enthusiasts around the world have appreciated. Today, with a new design and a new extensive collection, this "mythical" watch so loved by all is reborn.

Born in the 60s, always loved ever since.

The very first Seiko 5 watch, Seiko Sportmatic 5, was born in 1963. It was Seiko's and Japan's first day-date automatic watch. The "5" represented the promise of every Seiko 5 watch: an automatic movement, day and date display at three o'clock, water resistance, an integrated crown at four o'clock, and a case and bracelet built for strength and durability. ln combination with the then-new mainspring system and shock resistance system, these features gave Seiko 5 its distinctive look and strength.

Seiko 5 Sports was born in 1968, to meet the growing demand for reliable sports watches. In addition to the core values of Seiko 5, Seiko 5 Sports ensured improved water resistance, a reinforced crystal, and luminous hands and hour markers. During the following decades, Seiko 5 Sports found great acceptance around the world as a "go anywhere" watch that offered distinctive looks and extraordinary value. ln particular, among young watch enthusiasts the collection became synonymous with the availability of numerous designs with intensely colored dials that created awe.

The new design. Built on tradition. Created for the person.

The new Seiko 5 Sports draws its inspiration from the successful fifty years of Seiko 5 Sports and its design is based on one of Seiko's most beloved sports watches. Each creation in the new collection showcases an updated version of that model, and all timepieces feature the same arrow-shaped minute hand, distinctive indexes and unidirectional rotating bezel. The movements feature the legendary and proven automatic Caliber 4R36, with 24 jewels, optional manual winding and a 41-hour power reserve.

The collection is divided into four thematic areas: Sports, Suits, Street, Sense. All watches have new three-dimensional dials and indexes and feature a wide range of straps and bracelets, from steel with Milanese mesh to silicone and leather combined with other materials.
